llms.txt generator
Fill in what your business is, what it sells and which pages matter. Get a clean llms.txt file to upload to your site, so AI assistants describe you correctly.
Your llms.txt
Upload the file to the root of your site so it opens at https://yoursite.com/llms.txt, then run the free SEO & AI Visibility Check to confirm it is found. Why this matters: agentic AI for small business.
How it works
01
Name and summary
The file starts with your name as a heading and a one-line summary as a quote. These are the only parts an assistant is sure to read, so make them accurate and plain.
02
Key facts
Location, contact details and services with prices become a short list under the summary. Facts here should match your website and Google Business Profile exactly.
03
Link sections
Each section is a heading followed by links to your most useful pages, each with a short note. “Optional” is for pages an assistant can skip when it is short on space.
04
Upload and check
Download the file, upload it to your site root, then run the free SEO & AI Visibility Check to confirm it is found and readable.
Questions
What is llms.txt?
A plain-text Markdown file at the root of a website (yoursite.com/llms.txt) that tells AI assistants what the site is about and which pages matter. It was proposed at llmstxt.org in 2024. Think of it as a short, curated briefing, where a sitemap is a full list.
Do Google or ChatGPT read llms.txt?
It is a proposal, not an official standard, and AI companies have not all said whether they use it. It costs almost nothing to add, it can only help an assistant describe you correctly, and some AI tools and coding agents do read it. Keep your normal SEO in place as well.
Where do I put the file?
At the root of your domain, so it opens at https://yoursite.com/llms.txt. On most hosts you upload it to the same folder as robots.txt. On WordPress, Shopify or Wix, use the platform’s file or SEO settings, or ask your developer.
What should I put in the summary?
One or two sentences that a stranger could repeat correctly: what you do, for whom and where. Avoid slogans. If an assistant only reads that line, it should still describe your business accurately.
Is anything I type sent to SlickLab?
No. The file is built in your browser and nothing is sent or stored. Closing the page clears it.
